In the beginning
Take a trip down memory lane with us as we give you a brief insight into 3 generations of our family and how we came to work in haulage. Having been based in the fens, previous generations were predominantly farmers growing their own produce. As they began to look for ways to deliver their stock to market, it was inevitable that soon they would turn to transport and this would eventually lead the Swannell family to purchasing their first lorry, and the first lorry in the village of Warboys in Cambridgeshire.
A vision to succeed
Andrew Swannell and his wife Karen launched Swannells Transport in 1981 with one lorry. Even though in the beginning, launching Swannells Transport was incredibly tough (ask Andrew Swannell himself and he’ll kindly oblige you an answer to that description) the foundations of the company were in place, with a vision to succeed and grow. With strong traditions and values from the very early days, Swannells Transport had begun. The road is long as they say, but Swannells Transport were heading out onto it.
Continued growth
During the next 30 years Swannells Transport would continue to grow, winning new contracts and always delivering the same level of service they had set out to. As time went by they would grow into a much larger team of experienced warehousing & distribution professionals, capable now of winning far bigger contracts. The family tradition at Swannells Transport continues with sons Edward and George now helping to run the popular company in Cambridgeshire and recently the business moved into their new 60,000 square foot warehouse set in 4 acres in Warboys.
We hope you enjoyed a brief history of Swannells Transport.
